Yamaha Pneumatic Feeder

Yamaha Pneumatic Feeder

Dobeter provide all kinds of Yamaha pneumatic feeders, these feeders are components used in surface mount technology (SMT) pick-and-place machines to supply electronic parts for placement onto printed circuit boards (PCBs). The most common and recognizable model is the CL feeder, but others like the FT, FS2, and FV feeders have also been produced. Yamaha pneumatic feeders are typically driven by an air cylinder and are a defining feature of older Yamaha SMT machines.

Key characteristics

  • Pneumatic operation: Unlike modern electric feeders, Yamaha’s pneumatic models use compressed air to advance the tape and present the components. This makes them an extremely durable and reliable choice for high-speed, 24/7 manufacturing environments.
  • Feeder sizes: The CL feeder, in particular, comes in a range of widths to accommodate different component sizes, from 8mm up to 88mm. The 8mm versions are further specified by pitch (distance between components), such as 8x2mm for smaller parts like 0402s and 8x4mm for larger ones.
  • Machine compatibility: While primarily associated with Yamaha’s older SMT machines (e.g., YV series), these pneumatic feeders are also compatible with some other machines, including those manufactured by Charmhigh.
  • Construction: These feeders are built from robust materials like aluminum-copper alloy and are designed to withstand the high temperatures of the SMT process.
  • Replacement by electric feeders: As technology has advanced, Yamaha has moved toward more precise and versatile electric feeder designs, such as the ZS and SS feeders. Pneumatic feeders are often compared against these newer, cylinder-driven models.

Common pneumatic feeder models

  • CL feeder

: The most well-known pneumatic model.

    • Widely available in multiple sizes and pitches.
    • A common choice for many older SMT machines.
  • FT feeder

: A less common pneumatic feeder model.

    • Known to be a high-precision feeder used with certain older Yamaha machines.
  • FS2 feeder

: An older, specialized pneumatic feeder.

  • FV feeder

: Another older pneumatic feeder, used on legacy Yamaha equipment
