Mydata Nozzles

Mydata nozzles are components used in surface mount technology (SMT) pick-and-place machines manufactured by Mydata (now Mycronic). They are crucial for accurately picking up and placing various electronic components onto printed circuit boards (PCBs).
Types of nozzles
Mydata offers a range of nozzles to accommodate diverse component sizes and types. These include:
Hydra Nozzles: These are designed for high-speed placement of a wide range of components, from tiny 0201 chips to mid-size ICs, QFPs, and BGAs. They are available in various sizes and colors, each corresponding to specific inner and outer diameter specifications:
H01 (white): 0.5mm ID, 1.2mm OD
H02 (yellow): 0.7mm ID, 1.5mm OD
H03 (red): 1.0mm ID, 3.0mm OD
H04 (blue): 0.9mm ID, 1.5mm OD (also available with rubber tip)
H05 (brown)
H06 (green): 0.25mm ID, 0.6mm OD
Midas Nozzles: These also come in various sizes and are compatible with Mydata SMT pick-and-place machines. Examples include:
A12 Nozzle: 0.8mm ID
A24 Nozzle: 5.0mm ID
A24S Nozzle: 5.0mm ID (stiff tool)
Double Nozzles: These nozzles feature two openings, typically used for handling multiple small components simultaneously.

Compatibility
Mydata nozzles are compatible with a range of Mydata/Mycronic pick-and-place machines, including the TP series (TP9-1, TP9-2, TP9-3, TP9-4, TP11, TP12, TP18) and MY series (MY9, MY12, MY15, MY19, MY100 SX/DX).
Maintenance
Proper maintenance is crucial for optimal nozzle performance and longevity. Regular cleaning with appropriate solutions is recommended to prevent contamination and ensure accurate component placement. Universal Instruments Corporation mentions that using alcohol-based cleaners can damage nozzle tips and reduce their lifespan. It is advised to use cleaning solutions specifically formulated for SMT nozzles.
In addition to cleaning, nozzles should be inspected regularly for wear, damage, or poor discharge performance. Any issues should be addressed by qualified technicians or the nozzles should be returned to the manufacturer for repair or replacement.
